Project 2

In this project I had to design for dementia. The goal of the project was to reconnect the dementing elderly to their family and experience a fun and connected visit. We designed a game called ‘DirigeerBlad’ in which the elderly and family have to follow and touch a light on the board. As both the elderly and the family member touch the board and lights music the elderly prefers will start to play. In this way a visit becomes more valuable and the family member is able to have a connection with the elderly.

In Project 2 I had to design for a client. This was really interesting because I learned more about how to identify the needs of your clients and your users. By doing this I learned how to analyze the scope you are designing for. Also I got more experienced in identifying user needs and wishes due to designing for a specific client. I realized that I was already more focused towards customer needs than in ‘Project 1’ and within this project I became more confident in examining customer needs.

Project 2 also showed me the use and function of the iterative process. The iterative process helped to create a better and more suitable design for our client. Also iterations make sure that you discover the weaknesses of your own design we can only discover these by iterating the process of research, making and testing.

Within this project I learned a lot by preparing, executing and analyzing user tests. I focused mostly on the user aspect and in this way I learned how valuable a test is and how it shows the interaction with the user and product. And most importantly where there is still room for improvement.
